First Practice Is Tomorrow and More

Good Afternoon Lake Marion Lasers,

Please read for some important information.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 28th is the first day of swim team practice. Swimmers please show your team spirit by wearing a Lake Marion t-shirt or red and black to school tomorrow. Practice for swim team members are as listed below. NOTE: Pre-team does not start practice until Monday, June 17th.

Please keep in mind the following as we start the season this week:

1. Only swimmers that are registered and paid may participate in practice.

2. Swimmers or parent/guardian MUST show a valid 2019 pool pass to enter the pool.

Practice Schedule

Our first practice is Tuesday May 28th. 4 – 5:15 PM for current middle and high school students and 5:15 – 6:15 PM for current elementary school students. Our complete practice schedule can be found at https://lakemarionlasers.swimtopia.com/practices

Tie dye t-shirts

Please bring your t-shirt (write name on the tag or on the hem) in a gallon sized Ziploc (or other brand) storage bag (please put the name of the swimmer on the bag also) to practice on Friday, May 31^st. Swimmers will tie dye after their practice outside the pool area in the grass. We will ask older swimmers/parents to assist younger swimmers. If you would like to tie dye your shirt at home, the team will be using a red die and swimmers can use any pattern that they choose (YouTube has some easy step by step video guides). Didn't pre-order a t-shirt, feel free to bring a plain white t-shirt to participate.

Sunscreen Fundraiser

Orders are due by the end of practice on Friday, May 31^st. Completed order forms along with cash or a check (payable to LMST) should be submitted to Mekeba Barrett. We will do our best to have orders back by Friday, June 14^th but an exact date will be provided once we have received shipping notice from the vendor. Jason Lezak Swim Clinic

Jason is an Olympic Gold Medalist for Team USA and he is conducting swim clinics around the country and Lake Marion, along with North Creek and Whetstone, has secured a date (Thursday July 11^th at Stedwick) for him to do a clinic for interested swimmers. You can watch Jason swim the anchor leg in the Men’s 4X100 Free Relay at the 2008 Olympic games that set a World Record and Olympic Record that still stands today. Jason’s swim is also one of the all-time fastest relay splits. It’s worth a watch even if you are not interested in the clinic. The video can be found on YouTube: https://youtu.be/chwxaUtnfUk. The fee for this event is $50.00/swimmer. This is not a fundraiser for the team. The money goes to Mr. Lezak as this is his per swimmer fee. Cash or checks, payable to LMST, can be given to a committee member. You can also signup online under the Meets and Events Tab.

Sample Clinic Schedule @ Stedwick Pool

8:00 – 8:30 AM – 10 & Under Swimmers Autograph session

8:30 AM – 9:30 AM – In water swim instruction with Jason

9:30 – 10 AM – 11 & Older swimmers autograph session

10 AM – 11 AM – In water swim instruction with Jason

Note: Parent/Guardian will need to arrange transportation to and from Stedwick. Swimmers may still attend all or part of their normal practice time at Lake Marion ( 10 & Under 9:15 – 10:15 AM and 11 & Older: 8:00 – 9:15 AM)
