This is your weekly updates, where we try to keep you informed of all of the upcoming swim events, social activities, reminders etc. Please, take the time to read to the end for upcoming information. There is A LOT of information about all the activities happening next week. PLEASE read this message in it's entirety! Signups for the next B Meet will close on Sunday, June 30th (TOMORROW) at 6:00 PM.
Practices This Week
Except as noted below, all other practices will happen as normally scheduled.
- Wednesday, July 3rd - No Evening Practice due to B Meet
- Thursday, July 4th - No Morning or Evening Practice due to Holiday
A Meet Recap
This morning we hosted Calverton. Lake Marion won 400 - 389! It was a very close meet from the very first event. Swimmers be ready to put in work this week at practice so that we are all ready next week as we try for three wins in a row when we travel to Silver Spring to take on Rock Creek on Saturday, July 6th!
Our Open Medley Relay teams got us off to a great start by winning the Boys and Girls relay! The Boys teams actually placed first and second!!
- Boys Open Relay 1st Place Team: Nick Keeler, Jacob Arias, Red Kidane and Kyle Gacuma
- Boys Open Relay 2nd Place Team: Camber Vincent, Ryan Frohman, Jack Mikula and Tyler Shuttles
- Girls Open Relay 1st Place Team: Maya Barrett, Sam Arias, Ava Silva and Amelia Giffin.
Thank you to all of the parent volunteers especially those that show up early and leave late. A special thank you to Danyelle Robinson and David Caldwell that stepped in and have been working in Automation during a very busy time of the season.

Meet Attendance
Please declare swimmers for next Saturday's A meet and A Relay Carnival NOW. For A Meets, it is CRITICAL that swimmer’s availability is declared through Swimtopia. In order to do so please, take the following actions;
Log into your Swimtopia account by clicking here or go to https://lakemarionlasers.
- Click on "Week 4A 2019"
- Select "Edit" under the swimmer's name.
- From the drop down select "Available For This Meet" or "Not Available For This Meet."
- Click Save
- Go back to step 1 and do the same for meet "A Carnival Relay 2019"
Please declare your swimmer's availability as soon as possible, but no later than 9 AM on Wednesday, July 3rd. Please do this even if you don't think your swimmer would participate in an A Meet, sometimes, swimmers are not available because of other commitments.
Now here is a summary of everything that is happening next week!
Sunday, June 30th - Flower Hill Mini Meet
If you are free on Sunday morning, please come out and cheer on our pre-team and youngest swimmers at the Flower Hill Mini Meet. The theme is Red, White & Blue. Warmups starts at 8 AM and the meet shortly after.
Tuesday, July 2nd - Game Night for Swimmers aged 9 -12
Swimmers aged 9 to 12 are invited to join the coaches for Game Night in the Lake Marion Community Center (activity room) for some fun games from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.
Wednesday, July 3rd - B Meet Week 3B
We will be traveling to Flower Hill for our third B meet of the year against Wednesday, July 3rd. The deadline to signup for this meet is 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2019 (TOMORROW). Swimmers are allowed to swim as many events as they want as long as they are legal to swim that event and they did not swim that event in the Saturday A meet, please see the Team Handbook for more information about B meet sign ups. The theme for the meet is Red, White & Blue, so come out dressed in your most patriotic costumes/gear (t-shirts, shorts, socks, hats, bandanas, etc.)! Pancake breakfast will be served after each morning practice on Wednesday. We are only able to offer this by donations from families and through volunteers. If you are able to help with pancake breakfast, please let any member of the committee know. Please do not forget to send a donation so that we may continue this each week. The last breakfast will be served at 10:15 AM as we must clean up and clear the pool deck by 10:45 AM (this includes the showers).
Thursday, July 4th - MVF Parade
Come have fun with the team during the parade - meet us at the start of the parade area (Apple Ridge RD and Montgomery Village Avenue) by 9:00 AM on July 4th! Come dressed in costume as a pilot (“a naval aviator”), a sailor, a Marine, or any other red, white, and blue themed costume! More info can be found on the LMST website by clicking here. We also need volunteers to help MVF run the games at the conclusion of the parade. You can sign up to volunteer by clicking here and signing up for a job under "MVF 4th of July Parade and Carnival. Student volunteers will get SSL hours.
Friday, July 5th - Pasta Dinner
Join us for our Pasta Dinner after practice in the community center. Dinner will be served beginning at 6:30 PM. Please signup to bring a dish.
Saturday, July 6th - A Meet at Rock Creek (Silver Spring)
Make sure you or your swimmer declare availability for this meet as soon as possible, but no later than 9 AM on Wednesday, July 3rd. The theme for this meet is Pajamas!
Sunday, July 7th - A Relays
Lake Marion is hosting A Relays so we will need extra volunteers. The theme is Red & Black. The coaches have already started building the relay teams so please mark your swimmers available or unavailable as soon as possible. If not marked as either the coaches will assume swimmers are available.
If you've read this far thank you! We raised $168.79 for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Lake Marion gives back! Our next fundraiser will be collecting new socks to donate to a homeless shelter. This will happen during Wacky Socks Week (July 11th - July 17th)!
