Good Evening Lasers,

It was so nice to see so many families at the ice cream social on Friday evening. Welcome to all the new families that have joined the team this year! This is a fairly lengthy E-mail, but please take time to read through it for some important information. A few administrative items that are important to remind everyone about:

• Please make sure you have a valid MVF activity card with current sticker to enter the pool.
• If you have not done so, please make sure your registration fee has been turned in prior to your first day of practice.
• Please check out our team handbook that will answer a lot of questions you may have. Our handbook can be found here: https://lakemarionlasers.swimtopia.com/team-handbook
• We will add team activities to our website as we are able to confirm them based on the availability of our coaching staff.

PRE-TEAM EVALUATIONS

We will have pre-team evaluations for all swimmers 9 & under that have never swam in a swim meet unassisted. This will allow our coaching staff to assess swimmers ability and place them in the appropriate group. Please go to the Signup Genius page https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/4090d4fa9ad2ea0f49-preteam and select one (1) time slot on Wednesday, June 1st or Thursday, June 2nd. Please list the swimmers name (first and last) in the comments when you sign up. After evaluations are completed, coaches will make decisions on where each swimmer needs to be and families will be notified by our pre-team rep, Nicole Goldsby. If you have any questions before the evaluations specifically about how evaluations will be conducted, please contact Nicole via E-mail at [email protected].

PRACTICES AND MEETS

Please check out our website as it has a lot of details about when we will be at the pool. Our first practice will be on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Practices:

• Current middle and high school swimmers will practice from 4:15 pm - 5:30 pm
• Current elementary school students will practice from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.

Meets:

• Our first swim meet will be MVF's Annual All Comers meet and it will take place at North Creek's pool on Saturday, June 11, 2022. This is the only meet where swimmers are required to pay an entry fee of $2.00 per event.
• All swimmers that can legally swim at least freestyle across the pool, 25 meters, are encouraged to participate in the meet. More information will be shared about this meet after the first week of practice.
• Our schedule of swim meets can also be found on our website at https://lakemarionlasers.swimtopia.com/a-meet-schedule
• We have also listed the themes for each week so parents can plan ahead.

TEAM SWIMSUIT

Yes, we will have a new suit this season. If you would like to purchase a team suit, it can be purchased through the online store at https://t-shirtpeople.com/lake_marion_swim_apparel/shop/product-detail/13604476. The deadline to order is 11:59 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2022. The early cutoff is so that we have suits delivered before our first swim meet. Orders will be delivered to the team and be handed out at practice. A team suit is not required to be on the team! However, suits must be in compliance with league rules which states no zippers or fasteners (other than drawstring on jammer) and no logo or name on the suit other than that of Lake Marion.
