B Meet Recap

It was great to see so many swimmers at our B meet last night. Congratulations to preteamer Kennedy Goldsby for swimming in her first meet this season! We can’t have a successful meet without volunteers, so a special thank you to 3 first time timers: Olena Golub, Eniko Szorenyi and Shuaizhang Li. We would also like to recognize our spirit award winners: Vinny D’Acosta, Sophia Hoover and The Turner Family.

A Relays

A Relays are fast approaching! They will be held on Sunday, July 10 at Washingtonian Woods. Please declare for A relays as soon as possible but no later than Sunday, July 3 at noon. All remaining A meets - including relays and divisionals - are open, so feel free to declare for the remainder of the season!

Dollar for Donuts

Be sure swimmers have a dollar for their donut after practice tomorrow morning!

Saturday’s A Meet

Our A meet on Saturday is away at Montgomery Square. The theme is Red, White and Blue! Come dressed in your patriotic finest! Montgomery Square Copenhaver Swim Club is located at 12300 Falls Road, Potomac, MD, 20854. You may want to get on 270 at 370 or Shady Grove Road to avoid the sink hole construction. Parking is available in their pool lot. Our team area will be on the concrete pad, behind the diving boards. We are not sure if the area will be shaded so please bring your shade shelters. They will have a light concession stand offering coffee, water, Gatorade, sodas, bagels, doughnuts, and a few other light snacks. They ask that our volunteers bring refillable water bottles for use on the deck during the meet. Their water fountain has a bottle filling station. They are trying to cut down on the excessive amount of waste (plastic/paper cups, plastic water bottles) that results from meets.

Please meet in the parking lot at 8 AM so we can walk in together as a team. Be sure to check in with your assigned coach so we know everyone is accounted for.

Our warmups will be from 8:25 - 8:45 AM so be ready to get in the water at 8:25 AM sharp!

I will send out the meet program tomorrow so you can print it out. Please review it with your swimmer(s)! Remember to check out with a coach before you leave on Saturday as the relay participant list in the lineup is tentative.

Our team lunch will be at the Five Guys at 15784 Shady Grove Road. Once the meet has concluded, head on over and order your food. You may even want to order online ahead of time or on the way! The coaching staff will hand out ribbons to everyone who swam that day and announce the spirit award winners.

Fourth of July Parade

The float committee has been hard at work creating our fabulous entry for the MVF parade! Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character or team spirit-wear and have fun with the team during the parade - meet us at the start of the parade area (Apple Ridge RD and Montgomery Village Ave) by 9:30 AM on July 4th!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Each year MVF asks each swim team to provide volunteers to help them with parade operations as a way of giving back to the community. This year we are tasked with registering parade entries. This is where we need your help; volunteers will be asked to assist with parade registration which starts at 9:00am, writing ribbons at the conclusion of the judging – the judging will start at 9:30am. We ask that the volunteers report to either Amy Potocko or Duncan Mullis no later than 8:45am at the registration table. SSL hours are available. Want to help build the float??? Come dressed for painting and paper mache (messy) this Saturday (July 2nd) from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Nguyen's house (19300 Cypress Hill Way). This is an outdoors-only event (no access to the house) and all attendees are helping with the float.
