A Meet versus Montgomery Square

We would like to recognize the following swimmers who swam All Star times this morning:

Congratulations to Kennedy Goldsby who swam in her first A meet! And congratulations to Ben Caldwell, Sophia Paez and The Page Family for winning the spirit awards!

Thank you to all of the families who volunteered this morning. All of the jobs were filled early in the week! We would like to give a shout out to Peter Perry and his family for getting a text at 7:30 this morning to see if he could swim and making it to the pool for warm ups! And the volunteer of the week is Diego Benicio, for timing and cheering so loudly that he loses his voice at the end of each meet!

Fourth of July

There is no practice for anyone on the 4th of July because we will all be at the parade in the morning and celebrating with our families in the afternoon! Please come dressed in your Star Wars attire or Lake Marion finest and walk the very short parade route with us! Meet up time is 9:30 AM. We still need 6 volunteers to work the registration table. Minions - Rise of Gru Movie at Rio on Tuesday, July 5 at 12:30 PM

We welcome all Lasers, including preteamers and family members, to join us at the AMC Rio on Tuesday, July 5 for the 12:30 PM showing. There are tons of seats available right now but don’t delay in reserving your seat. Let’s fill up the theater with our Laser family!

Spirit Wear

A Relays

A Relays are fast approaching! They will be held on Sunday, July 10 at Washingtonian Woods. Please declare for A relays as soon as possible but no later than Sunday, July 3 at noon. All remaining A meets - including relays and divisionals - are open, so feel free to declare for the remainder of the season!

Team Picture - Tuesday, July 12 at 8 AM

Our team picture will be taken on Tuesday, July 12 at 8 AM. It is for the entire team - AM practice group, PM practice group and preteamers all together! Please wear a red or black suit, or your Lake Marion spirit wear. If you don’t have that - wear red and/or black! Families can purchase the team picture, and additional portraits of their swimmers, as a fundraiser to support the team. Look for more details and an order form in a separate email. We hope the advanced notice and early time will allow swimmers who attend PM practice and/or have camps to come for the picture and then go about their day. There will be a combined practice for AM regular team after the picture, and AM preteam will also practice right after the picture. We hope the picture will take less than an hour, as it takes a while to line everyone up and get the perfect shot. Fingers crossed!

Lasermania - Friday, July 15

Lasermania, a Laser tradition of fun and games, will take place during regular morning practice times on Friday, July 15. We encourage all PM swimmers to attend morning practice that day, if their schedules can be adjusted, to enjoy the fun!

• 8:00 to 9:15 AM - 11 and up
• 9:15 to 10:15 AM - 10 and under
• 9:30 to 10:15 AM - preteam

B Meet Week 3 - Wednesday, July 6

We will host our next B meet with Flower Hill on Wednesday, July 6th. The deadline to sign up for this meet is 6:00 PM on Monday, July 4. Swimmers are allowed to swim as many events as they want as long as they are legal to swim that event and they did not swim that event this morning. Please see the Team Handbook under “Eligibility for B meets” for more information about B meet sign ups and the freestyle exceptions.

3. From the drop down, select Attending This Meet.
4. Select the events the swimmer is eligible to swim.

Be sure to sign up for a job when you sign up to swim, as we need all hands on deck to run a successful home meet! The theme is Red, White and Blue, so show your Laser spirit with your patriotic attire from head to toe! We will be recognizing two swimmers and a Lake Marion family for showing their team spirit.

A Meet Week 4 - Away on Saturday, July 9

Our next A meet is at New Mark Commons at 9 AM on Saturday, July 9. It is critical that a swimmer’s availability is declared through Swimtopia for each A meet. Here’s how!

1. Click on Week 4A 2022.
2. Select Edit under the swimmer’s name.
3. From the drop down, select Available For This Meet or Not Available For This Meet.
4. Click Save.

Please declare your swimmer’s A Meet availability as soon as possible, but no later than 10:30 AM (the end of AM practice) on Wednesday, July 6th. Please do this even if you don’t think your swimmer would participate in an A meet. Sometimes swimmers are not available because of other commitments.

A meets are seeded by the coaching staff. The lineup will be finalized by the end of the day on Wednesday. HC Jorge will communicate who will swim in this meet by Thursday. The line-up will then be formally exchanged with New Mark Commons by noon on Friday.
