Hello Lake Marion Lasers!

This is a long message but it is full of essential information. Thank you for taking the time to read to the very end!

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 30th is the first day of regular swim team practice. How exciting! 4:15 – 5:30 PM is for current middle and high school students. 5:30 – 6:30 PM is for current elementary school students.

Swimmers, please show your team spirit by wearing a Lake Marion t-shirt or red and black to school tomorrow.

Please note: If your swimmer is under 9 years old and has never participated in a meet unassisted, they do not need to come to practice this week. They will need to come for an evaluation next week. Those details are below!

Please keep in mind the following as we start the season this week:

1. Only swimmers who are registered and paid may participate in practice. This is an insurance requirement and we cannot make any exceptions.

2. Swimmers or a parent/guardian MUST show a valid 2023 pass to enter the pool.

3. A parent/guardian, age 16 or older, must remain on the pool deck during practice with swimmers under the age of 10. This is an MVF rule. Please see all MVF pool rules here.

4. A member of the committee will be near the front desk to check in swimmers/families prior to them turning in their activity card to enter the pool deck. Please bring payment, cash or check, if you have not paid.

Pre-Team Evaluations

We will have pre-team evaluations next week for all swimmers 9 & under that have never participated in a meet unassisted. This will allow our coaching staff to assess swimmers ability and place them in the appropriate group. Thank you to those who have already signed up for one of these essential evaluations. If you haven’t signed up yet, please go to this Signup Genius https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040844AAAD28A6F85-preteam and select one time slot. Please list the swimmers name (first and last) in the comments when you sign up. After evaluations are completed, coaches will make decisions on where each swimmer needs to be and families will be notified by our pre-team reps, Cindy Fuentes and Alison Torres. CITs

We are excited to offer the opportunity for some of our older swimmers to be CITs (Coaches in Training) this summer! CITs will:

• Assist pre-team coaches in Conducting morning practices from 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM and afternoon pre-team practices from 5:30 - 6:15 PM.
• The pre-team coach will direct the CITs for all practices and meets.
• Assist at pre-team meets and events when available.
• Follow the pool rules for swim teams that will be issued before the start of the season.
• Discuss any absences or conflicts in advance with one of the Team Reps directly.
• Be reliable and punctual at all AM and PM pre-team practices.
• Demonstrate and encourage fair play and good sportsmanship.
• Maintain discretion and confidentiality.

CITs must be 12 years of age or older and be able to stand comfortably in the lanes. If you are interested in applying, please complete this form by June 4, 2023. Previous CITs should also let Alison Torres [email protected]know if they are available to help at the pre-team evaluations from June 6-9 from 6:30 to 7:15 PM.
