Away A Meet versus the Lakelands Lionfish

What a close meet! The final score was 401 for Lakelands and 375 for Lake Marion. We had some amazing swims and lots of personal bests. Go Lasers! You can find the meet results under Schedule, Meet Results or by clicking here.

Thank you to all of the families who volunteered. We couldn’t have done it without you! We would like to thank Dan Schroyer for helping out at the automation table at his daughter’s first meet and to Bharathy Srinivasan who came to volunteer for the first time even though she didn’t have a swimmer in the meet! And thank you to Coach Rachel J, Rachel S and Andrew for coaching our swimmers this morning!

B Meet Week 1 - Wednesday, June 21

We will have our first B meet of the year at HOME on Wednesday, June 21 vs. Plantations. The deadline to sign up for this meet is 6:00 PM on Monday, June 19. Swimmers are generally allowed to swim as many events as they want as long as they are legal to swim that event and they did not swim that event this morning. There are two exceptions. 1. If you are a usual A swimmer who misses an A meet, you are not eligible to swim your normal strokes in the following B meet. 2. Any swimmer who has an MCSL “All Star” time in a stroke is not allowed to swim that stroke in a B meet (even if it is the off stroke.) Please see the Team Handbook under “Eligibility for B meets” for more information about B meet sign ups and the freestyle exceptions.

Click on Week 1B.
Select Edit under the swimmer’s name.
From the drop down, select Attending This Meet.
Select the events the swimmer is eligible to swim.
Click Save.

Be sure to sign up for a job when you sign up to swim! The theme is TROPICAL, so show your Laser spirit with your tropical attire from head to toe! We will be recognizing two swimmers and a Lake Marion family for showing their team spirit on Wednesday evening.

A Meet Week 2 - Saturday, June 24

Our next A meet is at HOME vs. Potomac Glen on Saturday, June 24. It is critical that a swimmer’s availability is declared through Swimtopia for each A meet. Here’s how!

Click on Week 2A.
Select Edit under the swimmer’s name.
From the drop down, select Available For This Meet or Not Available For This Meet.
Click Save.

Please declare your swimmer’s A Meet availability as soon as possible, but no later than 10:30 AM (the end of AM practice) on Wednesday, June 21st. Please do this even if you don’t think your swimmer would participate in an A meet.

A meets are seeded by the coaching staff. Jorge will communicate who will swim in this meet on Thursday morning. The line-up will then be formally exchanged with Potomac Glen by noon on Friday.

Calendar

There are two ways you can check out our team calendar. One way is to visit our team website and click on Schedule, and then All Meets and Events. You can even subscribe so our events are added to your calendar! This year we also created a one-sheeter for you to hang up at home. If you picked up a green copy at registration, it had a few errors on it so you will want to recycle it. We will have new yellow copies at the B meet and pasta dinner this week!
