pasta dinner, tomorrow's meet, and more!
Happy Friday Laser Family!
We hope to see everyone at our pasta dinner tonight. It is open to all team members! We will begin eating shortly after 6:30 pm, once afternoon practice is over (as long as the weather holds and the pool is open!) and all the swimmers and coaches arrive.
We ask that each family bring a dish with enough food to feed their family and a little more to share. It’s not too late to sign up to bring a dish under Job Signup. Our pasta dinner will help our swimmers fuel up before our A meet versus the Potomac Glen Gators tomorrow! We appreciate anyone who can stay after the pasta dinner to help set up the deck once the pool closes (as long as the weather cooperates).
Saturday morning’s theme is Tie Dye! Come dressed in your tie dye attire to show your team spirit. For those of you new to the team, our team area begins at the right half of the large red umbrella and extends to the shed. Be sure to save the left half of the large red umbrella for the Gators. Please stay in the team area and be ready to report to the clerks of course (Ms. Najarro and Ms. Goldsby) prior to your events!
We have reserved the lower parking lot for our guests for the meet, so please walk to the pool or park in the upper lot.
Please be on deck by 7:50 AM at the latest and be ready to get in the water for warm ups at 8:00 AM sharp. Check in with your age group coach when you arrive:
- 15-18 & 13-14: Rachel Sharp
- 11-12,9-10 & 8 and under: Rachel Johnson
Our meet program will come out tonight in a separate email. Print out a family copy and/or review it with your swimmers so they know the events/heats/lanes they are in. Please do not leave the meet on Saturday unless your swimmer has checked out with the coaches (unless you have already let them know you have to leave early). The relay participant list in the lineup is tentative. Swimmers should be prepared to swim through the last event of the meet and need to check out with one of the coaches prior to changing.
We are so thankful to the volunteers who have signed up to help at the meet. Volunteers, please check in with our volunteer coordinator, Tanya Hunter, when you arrive on Saturday morning. Our home meets require many people to run successfully, including concessions - which is the team’s biggest source of revenue. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Speaking of concessions, we will have breakfast sandwiches to start off the meet, and then we will switch over to burgers around half time. Come hungry and come with CASH!
Exciting News!!! We will welcome Audrey Tirrell on deck tomorrow! She is a former Lake Marion Laser who holds our team records in 11-12 girls 50 M freestyle, 9-10 girls 25 M backstroke, and 11-12 girls 50 M backstroke. She has started her own swimsuit company called Freestyle Swimwear. Be sure to check out her suits and support a small, woman-owned business with a connection to our team!
Our team lunch after the meet will be in the community center. See the separate email that Karrie sent out last night and place your pizza order by the 5 PM deadline! And before heading inside to enjoy our team lunch, please help us clean up the deck so that the pool can open quickly. Many hands make light work! At lunch, the coaching staff will hand out ribbons. And we will find out who will be awarded this week’s spirit awards.
Let’s swim fast and have fun on Saturday morning! Go Lasers!
