Friday update: pasta dinner & final A meet details!
Happy Friday Laser Family!
Lasermania was so much fun! Thank you to the coaches for leading this long standing Laser tradition!
There was a problem printing labels for the ribbons for 4th, 5th and 6th place last night at B relays. If your swimmer did not get their ribbons this morning, we will get them to them as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
It’s pasta dinner night before our last dual meet of the season. Time flies! We will begin eating shortly after 6:30 pm, once afternoon practice is over and all the swimmers and coaches arrive. Be sure to stop by, even if you aren’t able to stay to eat, to sign the kickboards for our graduating seniors! We appreciate anyone who can help set up the deck for the meet once the pool closes.
We will honor our 4 seniors at our meet tomorrow morning. Congratulations to Jacob Arias, Cameron Clagett, Juliana Gacuma, and Sophia Hoover! Even if you can’t stay the entire meet, come to the pool to see our seniors be recognized during half time. This is a Laser tradition you won’t want to miss!
Tomorrow morning’s theme is Superheroes! Come dressed in your superhero gear to show your team spirit. As a reminder, our team area begins at the right half of the large red umbrella and extends to the shed. Be sure to save the left half of the large red umbrella for New Mark Commons. Please bring your shelters to provide shade for our team area as we need to use all of the team tents around the deck to shade our volunteers, officials, and swimmers at the clerk of course areas. Remember to stay in the team area and be ready to report to the clerks of course (Ms. Turner and Ms. Goldsby) prior to your events!
Please walk to the pool or park in the upper lot so our guests can park in the lower lot.
Swimmers, be on deck by 7:50 AM at the latest and be ready to get in the water for warm ups at 8:00 AM sharp. Check in with your age group coach when you arrive:
- 15-18 & 13-14: Rachel Sharp
- 11-12,9-10 & 8 and under: Rachel Johnson
Our meet program will come out tonight in a separate email. Print out a family copy and/or review it with your swimmers so they know the events/heats/lanes they are in. Please do not leave the meet on Saturday unless your swimmer has checked out with the coaches (unless you have already let them know you have to leave early).
We are so thankful to the volunteers who have signed up to help at the meet. Volunteers, please check in with our volunteer coordinator, Tanya Hunter, when you arrive no later than 8:30 AM tomorrow morning (unless your shift begins earlier, of course!) Our home meets require many people to run successfully, including concessions - which is the team’s biggest source of revenue and helps pay for our fabulous coaching staff. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Speaking of concessions, we will have breakfast sandwiches to start off the meet, and then we will switch over to burgers and more around half time. Our concessions stand accepts cash, Cash App and Venmo.
Our team lunch after the meet will be in the community center. See the separate email that Karrie sent out and place your order by the 3 PM deadline today! Before heading inside to enjoy our team lunch, please help us clean up the deck so that the pool can open quickly. Many hands make light work! At lunch, the coaching staff will hand out ribbons. And we will find out who will be awarded the last A meet spirit awards. We kindly remind everyone to clean up after themselves after the team lunch. Thank you!
Can’t wait to swim fast, have fun, and honor our seniors tomorrow morning! Go Lasers!
P.S. - Congratulations to Julia Lewis, Andrew Niemiec, and the Caldwell family for winning the B relays spirit awards!
