Hello Lasers! Here is your first “weekly update” of the season. This message has something for everyone on the team, so please keep reading. Here we go!

All Comers

It was so awesome to feel the excitement and energy for our first meet of the season. A shout out to coach Rachel for making the beautiful banner that hung from the diving board during the meet! Please note that at any meet, spectators are not allowed to take pictures or videos behind the lanes. This is a safe sport rule for the protection of all of our swimmers.

Congratulations to all of the swimmers who participated in their first meet! Amazing job! We also had two swimmers who achieved all-star times:

• Eli Hunter - IM, back, breast & fly
• Elliott Zhou - breast

Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make sure the MVF time trials were a success, including those who filled multiple roles. And I can’t thank Beth Turner, Fred Turner and Dave Caldwell enough for coming to my rescue when my car wouldn’t start as I was trying to leave the pool yesterday!

A Meet Week 1 - Saturday, June 15

Our first A meet is at Norbeck Grove at 9 AM this Saturday, June 15th (18309 Wickham Rd, Olney, MD 20832). Please declare your swimmer’s availability through Swimtopia for this meet! Here’s how!

Log in to your Swimtopia account by clicking here or go to https://lakemarionlasers.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

1. Click on Week 1A AWAY vs. Norbeck Grove.
2. Select Edit under the swimmer’s name.
3. From the drop down, select Available For This Meet or Not Available For This Meet.
4. Click Save.

Please declare your swimmer’s availability no later than 6:30 PM (the end of practice) on Wednesday, June 12th. Please do this even if you don’t think your swimmer would participate in an A meet.

If you know your swimmer's availability for the remainder of the A meets, please declare for those now too!  

A meets are seeded by the coaching staff. Coach Nick will communicate who will swim in this meet on Thursday. The line-up will then be formally exchanged with Norbeck Grove by noon on Friday.

Theme

In keeping with Laser traditions, we have a weekly spirit theme. For week 1, the theme is CAMO, so show your Laser pride by decking yourself out from head to toe in all things camo! We will be recognizing two swimmers for showing their LM spirit at the team lunch after the Norbeck Grove meet.

Food

Our first Pasta Dinner is this Friday! It will begin at 6:30 PM in the community center. Every member of our team is invited to attend and bring a dish to share. There is a link on the Schedule (under All Meets and Events) for you to sign up to join us for this fun team building event, or you can click here for easy access to the RSVP and job/food sign up!
