Away A Meet versus Norbeck Grove

What a close meet! The final score was 389 for Norbeck Grove and 363 for Lake Marion. We had some amazing swims and lots of personal bests. Go Lasers! You can find the meet results under Schedule, Meet Results or by clicking here.

A Meet Week 2 - Saturday, June 22

Our next A meet is at HOME vs. Plantations on Saturday, June 22. It is critical that a swimmer’s availability is declared through Swimtopia for each A meet. Here’s how!

Log in to your Swimtopia account by clicking here or go to https://lakemarionlasers.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

1. Click on Week 2A at HOME vs. Plantations.
2. Select Edit under the swimmer’s name.
3. From the drop down, select Available For This Meet or Not Available For This Meet.
4. Click Save.

Please declare your swimmer’s A Meet availability as soon as possible, but no later than NOON on Wednesday, June 19th. Please do this even if you don’t think your swimmer would participate in an A meet.

A meets are seeded by the coaching staff. Coach Nick will communicate who will swim in this meet on Thursday. The line-up will then be formally exchanged with Plantations by noon on Friday.

Please sign up for one or more volunteer roles when you declare your swimmer. This is a home meet so we need all hands on deck! A huge thank you to Nicole McCabe for volunteering to head up our concessions team this season. She saved the day! ❤️

Calendar

There are two ways you can check out our team calendar. One way is to visit our team website and click on Schedule, and then All Meets and Events. You can even subscribe so our events are added to your calendar! We also created a one-sheeter for you to hang up at home. We will have a few copies at this week’s pasta dinner.

Practices

We begin our summer practice schedule this week. You can find it at the bottom of this message. Please note: There is NO PRACTICE on Wednesday due to the Juneteenth holiday. But you still must declare for the A meet by noon that day!

During our morning practices, swimmers and families enter through the gate. Please make sure the gate is closed behind you. Due to insurance restrictions, family members must remain near the pavilion. Only swimmers and coaches are allowed in other areas of the pool.

NEW THIS YEAR: We ask our morning swimmers to place their bags along the gate or under the overhang near the guard office area, not on the lounge chairs under the pavilion. We would like to reserve the chairs in the shade for the family members who must remain on deck during practices. Thank you for being considerate and following this new procedure!

We will have afternoon practice on June 20, even though the pool is closed to the public every Thursday this season. On that date, swimmers and families will also need to enter through the gate.

Afternoon practices are sometimes canceled due to inclement weather. Please download the Rainout Line App and search for Montgomery Village Foundation to see the status of Lake Marion. We hold practice if the pool is open. As always, if you have concerns about the air or water temperature, or the weather forecast, do what is best for your swimmer.

Caps and the App

Need a Lake Marion swim cap? See one of the committee members on deck to purchase one. They are $10 each.

Ribbons

Meet ribbons are handed out at the team lunch after A meets and the practice after B meets. If your swimmer needs any of their ribbons, they are in the “family box” that we will bring out at practices. Thank you to Jen Caldwell for being our ribbons lead!

Food

This Friday morning is our first Donut Day of the season. Please make sure your swimmer has $1 for their donut. Swimmers can purchase their donuts after their practice time. We are only able to offer this opportunity to our morning practice groups because the pool is closed to the public at that time.

Our weekly team building event is our Pasta Dinner on Friday. RSVP and sign up to bring a dish to share here!
