Hello Lasers! It’s time for our weekly update!

TEAM PICTURE TOMORROW AT 8 AM

Our team picture is tomorrow at 8 AM. Come in your Lake Marion team shirt. If you still need your shirt, see Ms. Najarro under the pavilion to pick it up! You must place your picture order by 6 PM TONIGHT. You can find all of the details here!

Tomorrow morning we will have a combined practice for all AM swimmers who practice with Coach Nick and Coach Rachel from 8:30 to 9:45 AM. Morning preteam will practice from 8:30 to 9:15 AM. CITs will join their practice after preteam. Afternoon practices will be held as scheduled.

It was hot and steamy at the pool, and we pulled out a win! We were up by just 2 points at half time - and the final score was 399-382 in favor of Lake Marion. Way to go Lasers! You can find the meet results under Schedule, Meet Results or by clicking here.

Our First B Meet - Thursday, June 27 at HOME with Whetstone

Our upcoming B meet is at HOME on Thursday, June 27. The deadline to sign up for this meet is 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 25. Swimmers are generally allowed to swim as many events as they want as long as they are legal and they did not swim that event in yesterday’s A meet. Swimmers who placed 7th-12th in freestyle on Saturday are allowed to swim freestyle again on Thursday. Swimmers who received a disqualification on Saturday are also allowed to swim that stroke again. Please see the Team Handbook under “Eligibility for B meets” for more information about B meet sign ups. If you have questions, please ask one of the committee members!

Select Edit under the swimmer’s name.
From the drop down, select Attending This Meet.
Unlike A meets, you need to select the events the swimmer is eligible to swim.
Click Save.

You must sign up for a job when you sign up to swim! Every family who has a swimmer in the meet must fill at least one volunteer role, or we cannot have a successful meet. We especially appreciate those families who sign up to volunteer week after week without needing any reminders!

The theme for this B meet is TROPICAL, so show your Laser spirit with your tropical attire from head to toe! We will be recognizing two swimmers and a Lake Marion family for showing their team spirit. As a reminder, there is no afternoon practice when we have a B meet. Come cheer on the team!

A Meet Week 3 - Saturday, June 29

Our next A meet is at AWAY vs. Carderock Springs on Saturday, June 29. It is critical that a swimmer’s availability is declared through Swimtopia for each A meet. Here’s how!

Select Edit under the swimmer’s name.
From the drop down, select Available For This Meet or Not Available For This Meet.
Click Save.

Please declare your swimmer’s A Meet availability as soon as possible, but no later than noon on Wednesday, June 26. Please do this even if you don’t think your swimmer would participate in an A meet.

A meets are seeded by the coaching staff. The line-up must be formally exchanged with Carderock Springs by noon on Friday.

A Relays at Long Branch on Sunday, June 30

A relays is on Sunday, June 30 AWAY at Long Branch. This meet is a ton of fun! Please declare your swimmer for A Relays at the same time you declare for the A meet, as this meet also closes at noon on Wednesday, June 26.

From the drop down, select Available For This Meet or Not Available For This Meet.

Social Events

We have two social events planned for the upcoming week. First, the team will meet at the Rio AMC on Tuesday, June 25 to see the 12:45 PM showing of Inside Out 2. Get your tickets now!

Second, we have Parents Night Out on Wednesday, June 26 from 7-9 PM at Outta the Way Cafe. Book your sitter and join us from some grown up time! ;) Please RSVP for this event so we can let the restaurant know how many of us will be attending!

More Fun

Lake Marion is non-stop fun! We will serve pancakes after each of our morning practices on Thursday, June 27. Please have your swimmer bring in a donation to help us defray the cost of this B meet morning tradition.

We will have $1 donuts after morning practices on Friday, June 28. We also have our weekly potluck Pasta Dinner and team building that evening. Please sign up to bring a large dish to share. We ask every family attending to sign up to bring something so we don’t run out of food. Thank you so much!
