Hello Lasers! Here is your first “weekly update” of the season. This message has something for everyone on the team, so please keep reading. Here we go!

    Spirit Wear

Place your spirit wear order with Frizzy’s by TONIGHT if you’d like your gear by Week 2!

    All Comers

We had a rainy morning at North Creek for the 51st Annual All Comers meet, MVF’s very own time trials. Congratulations to all of the swimmers who participated in their first meet! We also had 6 swimmers who achieved all-star times at our first meet of the season - amazing!!!

    • Maddie Arias - breaststroke
    • Sam Arias - breaststroke
    • Aiden Chavarria - back, breast & fly!!!!
    • Eli Hunter - IM & breast
    • Chase Keeler - breast & fly
    • Austin Seager - breast

The meet results are posted to the website. You can find them under Schedule, Meet Results or by clicking https://lakemarionlasers.swimtopia.com/meet-results

Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make sure the MVF time trials were a success, especially Katie Paez and The Muldowny Family, who filled in for volunteers who did not report for duty. I’d also like to give a shout out to Angie Niemiec and Tanya Hunter for clerking when both of the parents who signed up for this essential role had a change of plans.

    A Meet Week 1 - Saturday, June 14

Our first A Meet is HOME vs. Long Branch at 9 AM this Saturday, June 14th. All families not on preteam - you must declare your swimmer’s availability through Swimtopia for this and every A meet! Here’s how!

Visit our team website and click on Schedule, All Meets and Events, or simply visit https://lakemarionlasers.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

    1. Click on Week 1A HOME vs. Long Branch.
    2. Select Edit under the swimmer’s name.
    3. From the drop down, select Available For This Meet or Not Available For This Meet.
    4. Click Save.

Please declare your swimmer’s availability for our first A meet no later than 9:00 PM on Wednesday, June 11th. Please do this even if you don’t think your swimmer would participate in an A Meet.

If you know your swimmer's availability for the remainder of the A Meets, please declare for those now too! A Meets earn points for our team and determine our division placement in the entire Montgomery County Swim League. Coach Nick selects swimmers for all A meets based on swimmer availability and seed times. He will communicate who will swim in this meet on Thursday. The line-up will then be formally exchanged with Long Branch by noon on Friday.

Running a home meet requires 91 points of work - so we need everyone to volunteer for one or more shifts if you have a swimmer in the meet (and even if you don’t since this is a home meet!) If you have questions about A meets, please refer to our Team Handbook. You can find a lot of information there!

    Theme

In keeping with Laser traditions, we have a weekly spirit theme. For Week 1, the theme is TROPICAL, so show your Laser pride by decking yourself out from head to toe in all things TROPICAL! We will be recognizing two swimmers and one family for showing their LM spirit at the team lunch after the meet.

    Food

Our first Pasta Dinner is this Friday! It will begin at 6:30 PM in the community center. Every member of our team is invited to attend and bring a dish to share. There is a link on the Schedule (under All Meets and Events) for you to sign up to join us for this fun team building event, or you can click here for easy access to the RSVP and job/food sign up!

    Volunteering

As you know, our team required you to sign up for 10 points worth of volunteering in order to process your registration. We are an all volunteer organization and require every family to support the team in some capacity to have a successful season. As noted above, a home meet requires 91 points of work, so 10 points is just the start of what we need from all families!

You will receive an email reminder prior to your volunteer shifts from our fabulous volunteer Coordinator, Tanya Hunter. Please review your volunteer assignments and check your email regularly so that you are ready to fulfill your volunteer roles.

If you are unable to volunteer for the events/meet you selected at registration, we ask that you find a replacement. If you do not find a replacement or are a no show for your volunteer shifts, you place the team in a difficult position.

Thank you for being an integral part of our team and fulfilling your volunteer responsibilities so we can have a fabulous, fun, stress-free summer swim season!

    The End

You made it to the end of this message! Thank you for your reading efforts!
