Practices begin Tuesday & other essential info
Hello Lake Marion Lasers and Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
This is a longer message but it is full of essential information. Thank you for taking the time to read to the very end!
Practice Begins
Tuesday, May 26th is the first day of swim team practice for those swimmers not on preteam. How exciting! 4:15 – 5:30 PM is for current middle and high school students. 5:30 – 6:30 PM is for current elementary school students. If the water temperature is too chilly, swimmers will participate in dryland training!
We are excited to welcome our new head coach, Dana Sato, to the Lake Marion Lasers! Our assistant coaches are Ellie Mikula and Izzy Najarro. Our preteam head coach is Elliot Redman. Our swimmer coaches are Ricky Najarro and Austin Seager.
Swimmers, please show your team spirit by wearing a Lake Marion t-shirt or red and black to school on Tuesday!
Preteam Update
Please note: Preteam evaluations will be next week, beginning June 1st. If you have a preteam swimmer, please look for a separate email from Alissa Eaton, our preteam rep, with all of the details.
Optional preteam practices begin Monday, June 8th.
Is Practice On?
We hold practice if the pool is open. As always, if you have concerns about the air or water temperature, or the weather forecast, do what is best for your swimmer.
Please download the Rainout Line App and search for Montgomery Village Foundation to see the status of Lake Marion Pool.
Essentials for Getting Started
Please keep in mind the following as we start the season this week:
1. Only registered swimmers may participate in practice. This is an insurance requirement and we cannot make any exceptions.
2. Swimmers or a parent/guardian MUST show a valid 2026 pass to enter the pool. We hope everyone has their online pool passes ready to go! Click here if you haven’t gotten your passes yet!
3. A parent/guardian (age 16 or older) must remain on the pool deck during practice with swimmers under the age of 10. Swim team members under the age of 13 MUST leave immediately after practice unless accompanied by an adult.
4. During the first week of practice, a member of the committee will be near the front desk to check in swimmers/families prior to showing pool passes to the desk attendant.
Spirit Wear
Our spirit wear vendor is Frizzy’s Tees & Things, a Lake Marion family. They have created an online store for your spirit wear purchases. They are selling t-shirts, tank tops, hoodies, shorts, etc. Please visit https://frizzys.co/collections/lake-marion-lasers-swim-team and get your orders in. If you registered in time to receive your free shirt(s), they will be ready for the All Comers meet!
Coaches in Training (CIT)
If you have an older swimmer who is interested in supporting our preteam swimmers as a Coach in Training (CIT), please fill out this interest form by Friday, June 12th. The form will ask for availability, so it will be helpful to have schedules handy.
The End
Congratulations! You made it to the end of the first epic email of the season. Thank you so much for being a part of the Laser family! See you at the pool!
Daria, on behalf of the Lake Marion Swim Team Board
