Hello Laser Families!

Summer is moving right along, and we are ready for our second HOME B meet of the season! **Please note that this meet will take place on a TUESDAY because of the 4th of July holiday!**

B Meet Information

Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30th, we are HOME vs Whetstone. (North Creek and Upper County will unfortunately not be able to join us.) Swimmers, please be sure to arrive no later than 4:45pm and check in with your coach. Our warm ups will start promptly at 5pm.

• Swimmers age 10 and younger, please check in with Coach Dana.
• Swimmers age 11 and 12, please check in with Coach Izzy.
• Swimmers 13 and up check in with Coach Ellie.

Theme: This week's theme is DECADES!

• 8 & Under: 80s
• 9-10s: 90s
• 11-12s: 50s
• 13-14s: 60s
• 15-18s: 70s
• Parents- You choose!

We can’t wait to see everyone's outfits, and we will be looking for the B meet family, boy, and girl spirit award winners tomorrow night!

Parking: Since it is a home meet, we encourage everyone to walk or bike to the pool, if possible. If you choose to drive, please park in the UPPER LOT ONLY as we allow our guests to park in the lower lot.

Team Area: Our team area is from the right of the big red umbrella to the storage shed. Feel free to bring your own pop up tent/canopy for additional shade, if desired.

Concessions: The Laser Cafe will be open with its tasty treats and amazing menu of Mexican street corn and tacos, so come hungry! They will be accepting cash, Venmo, and CashApp payments.

Volunteers: Thank you to everyone who has signed up to volunteer, including many who don’t have any swimmers in the meet! Upon arrival, please be sure to check-in with our volunteer coordinator, Tanya Hunter, at the announcers table so we know you’re at the pool and ready to help. Be sure to double check the email sent out by Tanya earlier this week, noting your requested time of arrival.

** If you are in need of volunteer points, THERE ARE STILL A FEW VOLUNTEER JOBS AVAILABLE- second half timers, set up, clean up! No experience required!! The job sign-up closes tonight at 9pm.**

Meet Timeline:

5:00-5:20 PM: Lake Marion Warm-Ups

5:15 PM: Referee and Starter Meeting

5:20-5:40 PM: Whetstone Warm-Ups

5:25 PM: Officials Meeting

5:35 PM: Timers Meeting

5:45 PM: Scratch Meeting

5:50 PM: Timers and Officials report to lanes

5:55 PM: Timer Check

5:59 PM: National Anthem

6:00 PM: Event 1 begins

Please note: B meet deck entries can only be accepted by Alison, Cindy, or Dana. Please do not ask timers, clerk of course or automation to add swimmers to events. Thank you!

In tradition, pancake breakfast will be served Tuesday morning after practice. Please remember to bring/send a donation to support the purchase of the food. Please don’t put trash in the trash cans that are upside down. This causes extra clean-up work. Older swimmers should not eat pancakes until after they have practiced.

**NEW THIS YEAR: We can not set up for the meet after morning practice since the pool will be open from 12-4. This means we will need all hands on deck to set up on time for the meet!**

LOOKING AHEAD:

• EXPECTED EXTREME TEMPERATURES: The forecast is calling for temperatures over 100 degrees later this week, with even higher heat indexes. It is imperative that every swimmer takes the necessary action to stay hydrated NOW, before the heat arrives!
  • Every swimmer must bring a water bottle to practice and to the meets.
  • Avoid extended periods of time in direct sunlight.
  • Avoid over exertion- rest when you can
  • Seek out shade if you are outside and at the meets.

**As always, if you are concerned about the forecast, please use your own discretion and do what is best for your swimmer. **

• DECLARE your swimmer’s eligibility by TUESDAY at 9pm for:
  • THURSDAY EVENING’s A meet on 7/2- AWAY @ New Mark Commons

  AND

  • A RELAYS on Sunday 7/5 HOME against the entire division
  • Even if you will not be around or you don’t think your child will make it into the A meet, you must declare. Thank you!

• TEAM PICTURE Wednesday 7/1at 8am:
  • ALL swim team and pre-team swimmers are requested to attend!
  • Preorder your team and individual pictures by Tuesday, June 30 at 9 PM.

  • Please note this modified practice schedule for all morning swimmers on Wednesday morning:
  • Combined AM Groups: 8:30 AM – 9:45 AM
  • Pre-Team: 8:30 AM – 9:15 AM
  • CITs: 9:15 AM – 9:45 AM (to assist with Pre-Team)

• FAMILY GAME NIGHT on Wednesday 7/1 from 7:30-8:45 PM in the LM Community Center. Please RSVP so we have enough treats for everyone.

• FRIDAY JULY 3RD:
  • There will be no practice or pasta dinner on Friday due to the observance of the 4th of July holiday.
  • Instead, come join us as the Lake Marion Lasers carry on the tradition of participating in the MVF Independence Day Parade! You will need to arrive at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ parking lot no later than 9:45am. (Parking is available at North Creek Community Center.) The judging of the floats will be at 9:30am and the parade begins at 10am. Look out for an email from Daria later this week with further details!
