Good afternoon Lasers!

Tomorrow, Wednesday July 8, we have our B relay meet AWAY at Whetstone. B relays is a super fun meet where all 6 teams from our B league come together to compete in various relay team races. There will be no individual races at this meet. Please come to support our team!

Theme: This week’s theme is NEON!

Warm ups: Please be sure you CHECK IN WITH THE COACHES NO LATER THAN 5:15PM as our warm ups will start promptly at 5:30pm in lanes 1-3.

• Swimmers age 10 and younger, please check in with Coach Dana.
• Swimmers age 11 and 12, please check in with Coach Izzy.
• Swimmers 13 and up check in with Coach Ellie.

Parking: Parking is very limited, so please ARRIVE EARLY!

• There is no pool parking in adjacent residential areas.
• Whetstone Community Center has 45 spaces - these will be limited to parking passes only
• Centerway Park – entrance is about 100 yards southeast of the pool on Centerway Road - 60 spots
• Lidl Grocery - walking path 5-10 minute walk – 60 spots
• Whetstone Elementary – 95 spots – park at your own risk - we haven't gotten clearance for parking and they do enforce towing.
• Please don’t leave anything valuable in your cars.

Team Area: Our team area is located straight back behind the lanes, on the right side of the grassy area. (See image attached.) Please bring your chairs and pop up canopies/tents for shade.

This is a fast paced meet with a lot of moving parts. It is extremely important for all swimmers to remain in our team area so our clerk of courses and coaches can get all swimmers to their race(s) on time!

Volunteers: Thank you to everyone who signed up to volunteer! Please make sure you review the email sent earlier this today noting your requested time of arrival. Please check-in with Angie Niemiec upon arrival so we know you’re at the pool and ready to help.

Concessions: Hot dogs, chips, drinks, candy and snow cones will be available for purchase. Cash and card will be accepted.

Meet Details: This meet will consist of 19 relay events. Each of the 6 teams will have one relay team swim in each event.

Coach Dana sent out a tentative lineup earlier today. Please note that changes can be made by Coach Dana up until the time of the actual race. A few changes have already been made. Attached is the most updated version of the LINEUP for your review. Our goal is to allow as many swimmers who did not swim at Sunday’s A relays to participate as possible.

Whetstone is a dual dive pool, which means there will be no in-water starts, unless requested by the individual swimmer. If your swimmer is not comfortable diving in, please let the coaches know.

The timers will remain at the start-end (12-foot end) of the pool throughout the duration of the meet.

Be sure to stick around to the end of the meet and cheer on our Laser coaches and parents as they compete in the COACHES AND PARENTS RELAYS!!

LOOKING AHEAD:

• REMINDER: There will be NO PM practices (pre-team and swim team) tomorrow 7/8 because of B relays!

• In tradition, pancake breakfast will be served tomorrow morning after practice. Please remember to bring/send a donation to support the purchase of the food. Please don’t put trash in the trash cans that are upside down. This causes extra clean-up work.

• Be sure to DECLARE your swimmer’s eligibility by TOMORROW at 9 PM for this Saturday’s final A meet- HOME vs Willows of Potomac AND for Divisionals on July 18.

• SATURDAY: Our final A Meet of the season is HOME and will be honoring our graduating seniors! Theme: Superheroes! Our team lunch will be ordered from CHIPOTLE and held in the community center after the meet. Please join us and order your Chipotle burritos before Friday at 10 AM!!
