What is a "Heat Sheet"?

A heat sheet is the meet's program. Think of it as a game-day road map for the entire swim meet. It lists every single race in order, who is swimming in it, what lane they are in and which team they represent. Unlike the team's lineup, the heat sheet will list the opposing team(s) swimmers as well.

On a heat sheet you find the following:

  • Event Number: Each type of race (e.g., "Girls 9-10 50 Freestyle") is assigned a number (e.g., #12). The meet runs in order from Event 1 to the end.
  • Heat Number: If an event has too many swimmers for the lanes available, they are split into multiple, consecutive heats (e.g., Heat 1 of 4).
  • Lane Number: This is the specific lane (1-6) your child will swim in.
  • Seed Time: This is your child’s fastest time from a previous meet. If they have never legally swum it before, it will say "NT" (No Time).
  • Team Name: The team your swimmer is representing will be abbreviated next to their name (LM stands for Lake Marion).
  • "X" (Exhibition): If you see an X next to your child's name, they are swimming only for time/personal best, not for a ribbon and not earning points for the team.

Heat sheets will be emailed out the night before the A meets and the afternoon of the B meets. It is highly recommended to print it out or have it on your phone so you can follow along and cheer on our Lasers!
