A meets are the official, scored swim meets used to determine our team's division standings within the Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL).
A meet lineups (rosters) are strategically created by the head coach to maximize team points against our opponents. Factors the head coach carefully considers are:
- Fastest Times: The coaches maintain a ranking of every swimmer's fastest legal time for each stroke. Often the top 6 fastest swimmers in each age/gender group are selected for freestyle and the top 3 for Back, Breast, Fly, and IM.
- Point Maximization: The coaches may move a swimmer out of their fastest event into a different one if it helps the team score more points overall against a specific opponent.
- Swimmer Availability: Only swimmers who have officially declared themselves "Available" for that meet in SwimTopia, by the weekly deadline of 9pm Wednesday before the meet, are eligible for selection.
- Event Limits: Swimmers are restricted by MCSL rules, which only allow for a maximum of three individual events plus the Individual Medley (IM) per swimmer.
The head coach will draft the lineup mid-week after reviewing times from the previous Saturday's A meet and weeknight’s B meet. A tentative lineup will be shared with the team via email by Thursday afternoon. The final lineup will be exchanged with the opposing team by Friday at noon.
