    B Meet Wrap Up

The storms didn’t stop us from swimming on Wednesday evening, and they brought us a beautiful double rainbow too! We had 56 swimmers participating from our team! Thank you to all of the volunteers who hung in there as it got darker and darker so our swimmers could at least get through the breaststroke events. A shout out to our spirit award winners: Dylan Jenkins, Ben Page, and the Valencia Family! Congratulations to Tyler Niemiec for swimming an all star time in free and breast! Check out the meet results at our website.

AWAY meet at WEST Hillendale tomorrow morning

We are excited for our second A meet tomorrow morning AWAY at WEST Hillendale. The address of the pool is 915 Schindler Drive Silver Spring, MD which is about 35 minutes away from Lake Marion. They let me know they have a large lot with ample parking. The theme is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Come dressed to show your team spirit!

Please be at the pool by 8 AM. The swimmers will walk in together as a team, so we will gather in the parking lot. Be sure to have your swimmer check in with their assigned coach so we know everyone is accounted for.

    ●15-18, 13-14, & 11-12: Coach Nick

    ●9-10 & 8 and under: Coach Rachel

Our warmups will be from 8:20 - 8:40 AM. Officials and timers meetings will start at 8:30 AM. I will send out the meet program once I receive it from WEST Hillendale.

They will have concessions (snacks, drinks, breakfast items, plus grill lunch items). They only accept CASH ONLY. They will provide refreshments for timers and officials at halftime.

The area for Lake Marion will be on the far side of the pool, in the grassy area adjacent to the baby pool. I was told there would be plenty of shade, but feel free to bring a tent if you can - just in case!

Please do not leave the meet unless your swimmer has checked out with Coach Nick/Coach Rachel (unless you have already let them know you have to leave early). There are two relays in the second half (Open Medley and 14 & under Freestyle) and we want to be able to fill both of our lanes and have a loud cheering section!

Here are two additional notes from WEST Hillendale:

    1) We are going to offer a Halftime Splash because it will be so brutally hot. Parents, siblings, and officials are welcome to join in -- basically, we'll put on suits and jump in our big shallow end for 10 minutes at halftime. Once it's over, everyone will have to clear the water quickly to start the second half. So parents and sibs and officials should bring suits if they want to jump in. (I assume the swimmers will have suits!) :) We will have a couple of our swimmers who are certified lifeguards help watch the pool as well.

    2) We had a pretty violent storm yesterday afternoon. The pool is totally fine, but one of the access routes had a tree fall. Can you let your families know to come via New Hampshire Ave to Schindler Dr? (Basically, we want you guys to avoid Burnt Mills Ave). My note: This is the route I get when I use Google Maps!

Our team lunch will be at the Habit Burger (464 N. Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg MD). Once the meet has concluded, head on over and order your food. You may even want to order online on the way. The coaching staff will hand out ribbons and our spirit awards to one boy, one girl, and one family!

Go Lasers! (And please scroll down for reminders about upcoming events and other important information.)

●This summer, we’ll be rewarding swimmers for swimming personal best (PB) times. Over the course of the season, points will be awarded to swimmers each time they swim a PB. Points can be earned in both A and B meets as well as the All Comers meet. At the end of the season, during our annual Raft & Splash Party, prizes will be awarded based on the number of points each swimmer has accumulated. So strive for and count up those Personal Best black ribbons so you know how many points you are earning towards prizes. 1 Personal Best Ribbon = 1 point! Preteamers - you can earn points too! You earn 5 points for participating in the Manchester Farm Mini Meet. You also earn 5 points for participating in the Lake Marion Popsicle Meet. Preteamers have the potential to earn 10 points for attending these two meets. Swim fast and have fun Lasers!

●Mark your calendars for an event we just added to our summer of fun - our First Annual Family Game Night! Bring your favorite board and/or yard games and join the team in the community center on Tuesday, July 1 from 7:15 - 8:45 PM. Pizza and lemonade/water will be served. Be sure to RSVP so we can order enough pizza!
